Georgia Tech Falls In Three At Clemson

CLEMSON, S.C. – The Georgia Tech volleyball team fell in three sets (25-17, 25-14, 25-21) at Clemson in both teams’ regular season finale in Jervey Gym on Tuesday night. The Jackets end the regular season 19-12 overall and 10-10 in ACC play, while the Tigers finish with a 21-10 record and 12-8 in league action.

Senior Monique Mead led Tech with 10 kills and had 11 digs for her 12th double-double of the season. Kaleigh Colson also recorded a double-double, her 11th on the year, with 33 assists and 11 digs.

Sandra Adeleye tallied 18 kills on 32 swings with two errors for a .500 hitting percentage to pace the Tigers. Natalie Patzin had 14 digs and Moneshia Simmons put up 12 digs.

The Yellow Jackets scored four-straight to open up a 5-2 lead in game one, but the Tigers countered with six unanswered points to pull ahead 8-5. The Tigers rode that momentum throughout the set, claiming the game 25-17. Georgia Tech hit just 0.59 in the opening frame with eight kills. Clemson had 15 kills and hit .294.

The Tigers jumped out to a 7-2 lead and extended that to 16-8 in game two. The Jackets were unable to get back in the game as the Tigers built on their lead with a 9-6 run to close out the second set, 25-14, and go up 2-0 in the match.

Tech came out of the break and stayed neck and neck with Clemson in game three. Tied 12-12, the Yellow Jackets went on a 4-1 run to take a 16-13 lead. The Tigers worked their way back into the set and tied the score 20-20. Clemson went on a 5-1 run from there to win the game, 25-21, and the match 3-0.
