Volleyball Falls at No. 17 Louisville

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The Georgia Tech volleyball team (18-12, 9-9 ACC) fell in three sets at No. 17 Louisville (23-5, 17-1) Sunday afternoon at the KFC Yum! Center.

How it Happened
The first set was a tight battle. Tied 24-24, the two teams traded set-point with ties at 25-25 and 26-26, but the Cards were able to clinch the set, 28-26.

In the second set, neither team led by more than two points. It was another nail-biter that could have been anyone’s game, featuring 17 tied scores and four lead changes. The Yellow Jackets were poised at set point, 25-24, but the Cards scored three straight to take the game, 27-25.

Louisville jumped out to a 7-2 lead in the third set. The Cards maintained the momentum throughout the game, winning 25-14.

“I was proud of the way we came out and competed against Louisville in the first two games,” head coach Michelle Collier said. “In game three we gave them a big run and it was hard to catch up afterward. We are looking forward to finishing out our season on a high note at home next week against Florida State and Miami.”

– Teegan Van Gunst tallied her 19th double-double of the season with 13 kills and 14 digs.
– Ashley Askin and Annika Van Gunst added 10 and 8 kills, respectively.
– Rebecca Martin recorded her fourth double-double of the season with 17 assists and 11 digs.

What’s Next
Georgia Tech wraps up the 2015 regular season with a pair of home matches next week. The Yellow Jackets host Florida State at 3 p.m. on Wednesday and welcome the Miami Hurricanes for a 1 p.m. match on Friday. Both matches will air on ESPN3.
