Volleyball Competes Against Pinheiros

May 14, 2016

SÃO PAULO, Brazil – On the team’s first day in Sᾶo Paulo, the Georgia Tech volleyball team competed against the Pinheiros under 19 youth team, which includes three players on the Brazilian Youth National team. The Jackets got some reps in, playing all five sets and winning all of them.

All of the available players saw action on the court as the team worked different lineups and rotations. The Jackets won the sets 25-15, 25-18, 25-16, 25-17, and 15-9.

“I think today was about getting us back in rhythm,” head coach Michelle Collier said. “I think we had a couple days with some down time and we didn’t really touch the ball. Monday we have two matches and Tuesday we have a match, so we have three more matches to go against really good teams.

“This was a really good warm up to that. Our trip was really long yesterday and the team responded well to all of that. They showed up and had energy. We were able to do some really good things. I’m proud of their mentality and how they’ve handled every situation on this trip. I’m looking forward to the bigger competitions to come.”
