Tech Cross Country Places Ninth At ACC Championships
Katie Townsend and Shawn Roberts were the top finishers for Tech
2012 Cross Country:
Finished first for Georgia Tech in all six meets ... Placed seventh overall with a career-best 5K time of 17:30 at the UGA Invite ... Later posted a time of 18:00 at the Louisville CC Classic ... Recorded a career-best 6K time of 21:37 at the NCAA South Regional, which topped her time of 21:58 at the ACC Championships.
2012 Track:
Indoor: Competed in the 3,000 meters at the Kentucky, VT Elite and Vulcan Invites ... Best time was 10:35.03 at the Vulcan Invite, where she placed sixth ... Made the final in the same event at the ACC Championships.Outdoor: Came in second place in the 5,000 meters at the Georgia Intercollegiate Invitational with a time of 17:19 ... Improved on that time to finish in 17:18.42 at the Tiger Track Relays.
2011 Cross Country:
Top finisher for Tech at the Crimson Classic with a time of 18:47.16 to place 40th out of 203 runners ... Topped that performance with a season-best time of 18:40.35 at the Charlotte Invitational ... Finished second among Yellow Jacket runners at the Clemson Invitational with a season-best 6K time of 22:47.38 ... Ran a 23:27.90 at the NCAA South Regionals.
High School:
A four-year letterwinner in both track and cross country at Lakeside High School ... Earned the honor of team captain on both teams ... Was All-Region and won the scholar athlete award ... Ranked sixth in her graduating class ... The highest honor recipient in the Society of Women Engineers.
