Cross Country Releases 2016 Schedule

July 22, 2016

THE FLATS – Georgia Tech cross country head coach Alan Drosky released the 2016 schedule Friday, featuring six meets. The Yellow Jackets kick-off the season at the UGA Invitational on Sept.3.

“We’re excited about the competition scheduled for the fall season,” said Drosky. “The focus will be on two major invitationals, the Roy Griak Invitational and the Crimson Classic, which will prepare us for the championship portion of the season.”

Following the season opener at the UGA Invitational, the team will compete at the Roy Griak Invitational in Minneapolis, Minn. on Sept. 24.

“It’s been a number of years since we competed at the prestigious Griak Invitational so we’re looking forward to going back,” said Drosky.

On Oct. 1, the Jackets will compete in the Foothills Invitational in Oxford, Ala. before heading to Tuscaloosa, Ala. for the Crimson Classic (Oct. 14).

The Championship portion of the season starts Friday, Oct. 28 in Cary, N.C. for the ACC Championships. The NCAA South Regional will be hosted in Tallahassee, Fla. on Nov. 11.

NCAA Championships are set for Nov. 19 in Terre Haute, Ind.

The women’s team returns top performers in seniors Melissa Fairey and Hayley Keadey, and junior Courtney Naser. Fairey finished in the top two among the Jackets in every meet she competed in for the 2015 season.

The men’s team returns seniors Patrick Fleming and Alex Grady. Grady consistently placed in the top six among the Jackets in the 2015 season.
