Georgia Tech Track & Field Signs Three Women

Nov. 25, 2015

THE FLATS – The Georgia Tech women’s track & field program signed three women during the fall signing period, all from the state of Georgia.

Summer Hendley, a high jumper and long jumper who attends Savannah Christian Preparatory School and comes from Pooler, has been dominant in her high school career.

Women’s Coach Alan Drosky: “Summer is an exciting signee for our women’s track & field program. With three straight high jump state titles, and another state title in the long jump, she’s shown some great competitive instinct to be at her best when it counts the most. Our jumps coach, Nat Page, saw everything he likes in a high-level high jumper in Summer. She has the potential to be a very competitive jumper at the NCAA level and we look forward to helping her reach those heights.”

        Hendley’s Accolades:
        Three-time Georgia A Private High Jump State Champ – 2013, 2014, 2015
        Georgia A Private Long Jump State Champ – 2013; Runner-up 2015

        Hendley’s Personal Bests:
        High Jump – 5’5”

Hannah Petit, a distance runner from Mill Creek High School in Braselton, led Mill Creek HS to its first ever Girls Cross Country Team State Championship in 2015.

Drosky: “Hannah is a great addition to both our cross country and women’s track & field teams. She will contribute right away not just with her athletic talent but also with her great positive attitude that is infectious. She is an awesome young lady, and we’re excited to work with her. We saw her show some real mental toughness at the state meet, then afterwards to see her more excited about the team winning the state championship was inspiring.”

She’s such an outstanding young woman who’s filled with dedication and passion about her studies, her athletic endeavors and life in general. She’s a strong runner and a tough competitor who will contribute right away in both cross country and track & field. Her development has been carefully overseen by former Tech great and Olympian Antonio McKay, and we are thrilled to have the opportunity to work with her.”
