Georgia Tech Traditions

  • Wreckfest
Three hours before kick-off, Georgia Tech fans gather on Bobby Dodd Way to enjoy Wreckfest. Wreckfest celebrates our Yellow Jackets with a pregame tailgate party with family fun including live music, interactive games, inflatables, food, and fan apparel. Wreckfest is a great way to begin your game day as you get ready for an exciting football game and cheer on the players as they walk through Yellow Jacket Alley (Fowler Street) and into the stadium
  • Yellow Jacket Alley
Be the first to greet the team! Two hours and 30 minutes prior to each home game, make your way over to Yellow Jacket Alley (Brittain Drive) to see your favorite players up close and cheer them on as they march into Bobby Dodd Stadium. Listen for the whistle to blow 15 minutes before the team is to arrive.
  • Georgia Tech Marching Band Concert at the Campanile
About an hour before kickoff, fans go to the Campanile to enjoy a special pregame concert from Georgia Tech's very own marching band. This performance is a treat and gets fans in the mood to cheer on their favorite team.
  • Georgia Tech Marching Band & Cheerleaders on the Callaway Plaza
Steps Head over to Callaway Plaza approximately 40 minutes before kickoff to take in the sounds of the Georgia Tech Marching band before you head in to the game! Georgia Tech Cheerleaders will be on-hand to make sure all Yellow Jackets are pumped up before kickoff.
  • Wreck Leading Team on Grant Field
Bobby Dodd Stadium hosts one of the game's most underrated traditions. There's no better time to see The Ramblin' Wreck, the iconic, restored 1930 Model A Ford Sport Coupe that has led the Yellow Jackets onto the field for every home game since 1961. The car captures the spirit of the engineering school and continues to serve as the official mascot of the student body at Georgia Tech.
  • Georgia Tech Fight Song
Did you know that the "Ramblin Wreck" was the first school fight song to be played in space? While you are on Grant Field, be sure to join in singing "Ramblin' Wreck" after every Georgia Tech score (directly after a field goal/safety) and stay on your feet to continue the celebration with "Up With the White and Gold"!
  • The Buzzweiser Song
One of Georgia Tech fans' favorite fight songs to sing at football games is "The Buzzweiser Song". The band plays this song at the end of the 3rd quarter of every home football game. Fans get excited when they hear this famous fight song and the whole stadium sings the song while bending their knees to the music. "WHEN YOU SAY BUZZWEISER - YOU'VE SAID IT ALL!"

Tailgate Village at Georgia Tech

  • Tailgate Guys is the exclusive provider of reserved tailgating at Georgia Tech, offering spaces in central campus near Tech Green! This premiere location is ideal for groups who want to be in the center of campus. Tailgate Guys is a full-service event management company and can provide everything you need to tailgate including tents, tables, chairs, full food and beverage catering, media packages or anything else you can imagine. With full set up and break down, tailgating just got easier. Go to or call 404-430- 6765 for more details! Reserve your season package today before space runs out.

Operating Hours

  • On Saturday gamedays, tailgating will begin at 7 a.m. to coincide with scheduled parking lot opening times. All tailgating spaces should be cleared and cleaned no later than midnight on gameday, regardless of kickoff time.
  • Tailgaters may not set up the day prior to a game with the exception RV lots.

Stay Grounded

  • If weather conditions or ground location make the tent unsteady, your tent should be weighed down with sand or water bags. Staking the ground for tents is not permitted.
  • The Georgia Tech Landscaping Department and the Department of Parking and Transportation are not responsible for moving tents. • Georgia Tech is not responsible for tents that are damaged, missing, or stolen.

Cell Service

  • Due to the large crowds within Bobby Dodd Stadium and surrounding tailgating areas, cell service on the Georgia Tech campus can be a challenge on football gamedays. We have taken measures to rebalance and redeploy cellular infrastructure, including the new antennae around the stadium. However, cellular service can be frequently interrupted, particularly inside the stadium during the game. In those instances, we recommend that fans use texting as a primary means of communication. We have also found that turning 3G/4G/LTE service OFF on your cellular phone will improve the ability to make and receive phone calls.

Smoking Policy

  • Per the State of Georgia Board of Regents, smoking is NOT allowed on Georgia Tech's campus, including in and around Bobby Dodd Stadium.

  • While there has been recent state legislation related to the possession of firearms, the Georgia Board of Regents strictly prohibits weapons of any kind on state university property, including Georgia Tech.
