Christie Hughes joined the Georgia Tech Athletic Association staff in September 2012 as assistant director of event operations and was later promoted to her current role as associate director of event operations in June 2013.

She is responsible for operational planning, setup, and management for all athletic game days, including men's basketball, women's basketball, baseball, softball and volleyball.

Prior to joining the Georgia Tech staff, she was the director of operations for facilities and events across downtown at Georgia State from 2009-12. While at GSU, she created all practice and game day event documents for the Panthers' 16 Division I sports. She also served as the championship director for all CAA and NCAA tournaments held at GSU.

Before entering collegiate athletics, Hughes also spent time with the Georgia Force, Atlanta Falcons, Orlando Magic and Lowe's Motor Speedway.

Hughes earned her bachelor's degree in parks, recreation, tourism and sports management with a business administration minor from NC State in 2003. She later received her master's degree in sport management in 2006 from the University of Florida.

Christie and her husband, Phil, were married in October of 2013. The couple have one son, Nolan, who was born in May 2015.
