The Georgia Tech IMG Sports Network: Jackets Football On The Air
The Yellow Jacket Radio Network is a production of IMG College, America's Leader in College Sports. With offices around the nation and right inside Bobby Dodd Stadium, IMG College proudly presents another year of exciting Georgia Tech Football again in 2012. GO JACKETS!
Once again, WQXI-AM, "790 The Zone," is the AM flagship while WYAY-FM “All News 106.7” is the FM flagship for the Georgia Tech Football Network. Covering much of the state of Georgia, an additional 30+ stations make up the Yellow Jacket Radio Network, carrying a heavy schedule of game broadcasts for football and basketball as well as the weekly live coaches call-in shows.
The radio broadcast team for Yellow Jacket football is headlined by popular play-by-play announcer Wes Durham, the Voice of the Yellow Jackets since 1995.
Durham is a five-time selection as the Sportscaster of the Year in the state of Georgia and the recipient of the "Furman Bisher Award" from the Atlanta Sports Council. He is also the radio voice of the Atlanta Falcons.
Joining Durham in the booth is former Rambling Wreck and NFL quarterback Rick Strom, who begins his fifth season as color analyst following three seasons as the sideline reporter.
Strom played for the Jackets from 1983-87, starting 16 games at quarterback over the 1986-87 seasons. Following graduation from Tech, the Pittsburgh, Pa., native enjoyed a seven-year career in the NFL, playing for his hometown Steelers as well as the Buffalo Bills and Detroit Lions. Strom currently works for Manulife Financial in Atlanta.
Randy Waters will once again serve as the co-host of "Yellow Jacket Countdown," the one-hour show that airs prior to every Georgia Tech football game. Waters is the popular sports reporter/anchor for WXIA/11 in Atlanta and also serves as color analyst on the Jackets Men's Basketball radio broadcasts.
He will be joined on "Yellow Jacket Countdown" by former Jacket Nick Ferguson, back for his second year on the Yellow Jacket Broadcast Crew.
The football broadcast team also includes veteran engineer and producer Miller Pope along with long-time spotters Al Ciraldo, Jr., and Tommy Barber.
Back at the IMG College football studios in Winston-Salem, NC, the Georgia Tech Radio Network is anchored by studio host Mike Lefko.
Each broadcast begins two hours prior to kickoff with "Yellow Jacket Countdown," featuring game previews, live guests and former players and is followed by the “Ramblin Wreck Kick-Off Show” hosted by Wes Durham.
Following each game, Durham will interview key players and coaches, and fans will get statistics and scores on "The Locker Room Show."
