Georgia Tech Cheerleading and Dance Team
Cheer Team

The Georgia Tech Cheerleaders are a highly visible and enthusiastic athletic group on campus, and part of a program that is rich in history and tradition. Our primary purpose is to provide support by generating spirit and crowd involvement for Georgia Tech Athletics, and to represent Georgia Tech in a positive and uplifting manner during events, on campus, and around the community. Georgia Tech Cheerleading is comprised of two squads -- Coed and All-Girl. Coed has 6-10 coed partners each year performing coed style stunts and pyramids. All-Girl is an all female squad performing all-girl style stunts and pyramids.

Cheerleaders are student-athletes at Tech and Letter each year they cheer. Our cheerleading program receives early registration privileges, weight room access and training, academic assistance, as well as personal nutritionists and trainers. Currently there are scholarships available for selected squad members. All game day necessities and travel are provided by GTAA. Cheerleaders receive apparel, shoes, equipment and uniforms, extra job opportunities based on availability, and there are no out-of-pocket expenses as a Georgia Tech cheerleader.

Buzz is the world-famous and beloved mascot of the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets. Buzz gets Tech fans cheering at nearly all the Institute's intercollegiate sporting events. Although Buzz's origins are rather ambiguous, it is known that Buzz showed up at a game sometime in the early 1980s as an unofficial cheerleader, and was soon adopted by the GT cheerleading squad. Today Buzz is a member of the cheerleading squad, and attends all Football Games, all Home basketball games for the Men's & Women's Team, several Volleyball & Baseball games, as well as pep rallies and appearances throughout Georgia. In Fall 2005 and 2006, Buzz was named to the Capital One All-American Mascot Teams and competed for the title of the Capital One Mascot of the Year. Buzz also competes in the Mascot National Competition in Daytona, FL each April. In 2006 he received 2nd place... Go Buzz!
