As A Senior In 2009-10: Named the ACC Swimmer of the Year for the second consecutive season … Took part in the NCAA Tournament for the second-consecutive season … Was the National Runner-Up in the 400-IM for the second year in a row touching the wall with a time of 3:40.68 earning All-American status … Earned an eighth place showing in the 200-IM at the NCAA Championship with a season best time of 1:43.80 for his second All-American nod of the year … took 10th place in the 200-Fly finishing with a school record time of 1:43.28 to earn honorable mention honors … Won the 200-IM, 400-IM, and 200-Fly at the ACC Championship setting pool records in each of the events … Finished the 200-IM in 1:44.14, the 400-IM in 3:40.47 and the 200-Fly in 1:43.43 also setting an ACC Meet Record.

As A Junior In 2008-09: All-American in both the 200-IM and the 400-IM … Finished second in the 400-IM at the NCAA Championships with a mark of 3:38.00 which was the second fastest time in NCAA history and third-best in the world … Finished fourth at the NCAA meet in the 200-IM with a time of 1:42.79. Both 200-IM and 400-IM swims were Georgia Tech and ACC records … Was also a member of both the 400-Free and 800-Free relay teams which set school records at the ACC Championships … Set a school record in the 200-Breast with his time of 1:55.27 at the ACC Championships … On the 800-free relay team which set a school record (6:25.30) at the ACC Championships … Part of the 400-free relay team which set a school record (2:54.72) at the ACC Championships.

Before Georgia Tech: Transferred from Arizona State University where he holds school records in the 1650 freestyle (14:55.54) and the 400 IM (3:46.07) as well as ranking fifth in the 200 IM (1:48.21) … Won the 2006-07 Pac-10 400 IM crown with a season-best 3:47.50… Competed in the NCAA Championships in the 200 and 400 IM and 1650 freestyle… Clocked in a season-best time of 15:18.81 at the NCAA Championships … Joined the team midway through the 2005-06 season and earned All-America honors in the 1650-yard freestyle and 400-yard individual medley…Competed at the NCAA championships, setting a new ASU record while placing sixth in the 1650 freestyle (14:55.54) and also finished seventh in the 400 IM (3:46.96)… Broke the ASU record in the 400-yard IM with a time of 3:46.07 at the Pac-10 championships…Finished third at the Pac-10 championships in the 1650-yard freestyle (15:07.37) as well as the 400-yard individual medley (3:46.07)…Recorded the fifth-fastest 200-yard IM and the sixth-best 1650-yard freestyle times in ASU history (1:48.21 and 15:07.37)…In addition to his record-setting 400-yard IM finish, he posted ASU’s fastest 1650-yard freestyle and 200-yard IM finish times of the season…Recorded the team’s third-best times of the year in the 500-yard and 1000-yard freestyle events.

2008 Beijing Olympics: Advanced to the semifinals of the 200-IM and placed 13th with a time of 2:00.43 … Won his heat earlier in the day with a time of 1:59.66, surpassing his own Israeli National Team record by three seconds … Also swam the 400-IM and clocked in at 4:14.03, good for fourth place in his heat and 11th overall.

High School/International: Competed for Hapoel Jerusalem club team… Two-time national senior team member… Fifth place in the Junior European Championship… 200 IM national champion….Placed 11th at the 2005 Short Course European Championships in the 1500 free.

Personal: Born Gal Nevo on June 29, 1987, in Kibbutz Hamadia, Israel … Son of Ehud and Karen Nevo … Brother of Roni and Shai … Intends to major in Economics and lists his greast non-athletic accomplishment as being accepted at Georgia Tech.
