2014 (Sophomore): Missed the final three months of the season after enduring a shoulder injury and earned a medical hardship waiver … Pitched two scoreless innings vs. Wake Forest in Tech’s ACC opener on March 7, but did not appear again … Finished the year with a 2-0 record and a 1.96 ERA … Fanned 12 and allowed 13 hits in abbreviated 18.1 innings of work for the year … Earned the opening-day start for the Yellow Jackets and fanned four over four innings, but did not factor in the decision during Tech’s 6-5 victory over Old Dominion … Picked up his first win of the season by throwing 5.0 shutout, one-hit innings versus UNC Greensboro on Feb. 21 with one walk and two strikeouts … Went 7.1 innings versus Bowling Green on Feb. 28 and yielded two runs on seven hits with four strikeouts for his second victory of the year.

Before Tech: Played four years of varsity baseball at Riverdale High for head coach Barry Messer … Highly-touted prep left-handed pitcher … Named the Gatorade Player of the Year in 2012 for Tennessee high school baseball … As a senior, he earned Louisville Slugger honorable mention All-America honors, all-region honors and was tabbed the District Player of the Year … Helped lead his team to the 7-AAA district championship title and Region 4 title his senior season … Was 11-1 on the mound in 2012 with a 0.65 ERA, 96 strikeouts and 17 walks … He also hit .398 with 10 home runs as a senior … Was also an all-district pick in 2011 after hitting .420 with six homers and posting a 6-2 record on the mound … Graduated with honors from Riverdale and was named the senior class’ most outstanding male student.
