Georgia Tech’s new, young diving teams ready to go headlong into 2017-18 season

Georgia Tech swimming and diving will host Senior Day on Saturday, Jan. 28
Georgia Tech swimming and diving will return to McAuley to host the GT Invitational on Nov. 17-19
2016-17 (Freshman): Battled injuries all season long ... Competed for the Jackets in four meets on the season ... Recorded season-high scores of 221.18 in the 1-meter dive, 215.85 in the 3-meter dive and 162.10 in the platform dive on the year ... Posted the third-best score on the year in the platform dive (162.10) for the Jackets ... Finished seventh overall in the 1-meter dive (221.18) versus Georgia and in the 3-meter dive (215.85) against Alabama ... Also placed eighth overall in the 1-meter dive (206.93) versus Notre Dame and the 3-meter dive (215.85) in the dual meet with Alabama ... Dove for the Jackets in the 1-meter (217.35), 3-meter (184.70) and platform (162.10) events at the Georgia Tech Invitational.
Before Tech: Was a multi-sport letterwinner at Lakeside High School in Atlanta, Ga. ... Swam and dove for four years on the swimming and diving team, serving as the team captain her senior season ... Also lettered for two seasons in gymnastics and track & field, and one year in volleyball ... Placed third in the 6A Georgia High School Association State Championship meet in the 1-meter dive ... Tabbed the rookie of the year in both swimming and diving as a freshman ... An academic all-American in both swimming and diving as a senior ... Named the track & field team MVP as a junior ... Recipient of the Coca-Cola Student Athlete Award ... A member of the National Honor Society, serving as the president as a senior ... Also a member of the Spanish Honor Society and the Beta Club.

Mother, Kellie, earned her master's degree in civil engineering from Tech ... Enjoys being outdoors, doing adventurous things when traveling and painting ... Was a gymnast up until her freshman year in high school before trying diving ... Chose Tech because of academics, athletics and in-state tuition and scholarships ... Plans to major in biomedical engineering.
