NCAA CHAMPIONSHIP CENTRAL

THE FLATS - Georgia Tech senior swimmer Andrew Kosic, junior diver Brad Homza and four Tech relay teams will represent the Yellow Jackets when the 2015 NCAA Men's Swimming & Diving Championship begins Thursday at the University of Iowa.

The qualification of Kosic (100 free, 50 free, 100 fly) marks the third straight year a Tech men's swimmer will compete in the NCAA Championship after Eric Chiu did so in 2013 and Kosic and Nico van Duijn, along with two relays, last season.

"I'm excited and this has been a great two week stretch with (Shannon) Lumbra doing a great job last week and us taking six guys to the NCAAs this week," said head coach Courtney Shealy Hart. "We're looking forward to finishing off a great year. Our women had a terrific year beating some teams they've never beaten before and our men had a heck of a dual meet season. That built their confidence up. They had great ACCs and I'm excited to see them race again at the NCAA."

Tech's four qualifying relays are the 200 free, 400 free, 800 free and 400 medley relay. Joining Kosic at the NCAA Championship will be fellow senior van Duijn, juniors Ricky Lehner and Youssef Hammoud and freshman Noah Harasz.

Homza, a sophomore from Austin, Texas, will compete on both the 1m springboard and the platform -- the first Tech men's diver since Brandon Makinson in 2011 to compete at the NCAA Championship.

At the ACC Championship in Atlanta, Kosic was the silver-medalist in the 100 free (42.45), the bronze-medalist in the 50 free (19.23) and finished fourth in the 100 fly (46.36). He had a hand in all six Tech school record that fell during the ACC Championships - 50 free, 100 free, 200 free (1:34.55), 100 fly, 400 medley relay (3:10.06) and 400 free relay (2:52.47).

A senior from West Chester, Pa., Kosic finished 15th in the 50 free (19.42) at last year's NCAA Championship, becoming Tech's first point-scorer in the national championship meet since 2010.

Kosic, van Duijn and Lehner have made multiple NCAA appearances, while this marks the first for Hammoud and Harasz.
