A 2018 NCAA Championships qualifier and participant in the 100 breast, 200 breast and 200 IM events, Pumputis earned the silver medal and all-ACC honors after a runner up finish with in the 200 breast event with a career-best NCAA B time of 1:53.45 in the A finals heat at the 2018 ACC Men’s Swimming & Diving Championships.
In just his first year on The Flats, the Brazilian turned in the fastest time among all NCAA D1 swimmers on the year in the 100 IM at 48.86. He also recorded 22 NCAA B cut times in 2017-18, and turned in the fastest-time for Tech on the season in the 200 breast (1:53.45), 200 free (1:34.90), 200 IM (1:45.46) and 400 IM (3:50.36) events.
The first-year Jacket also had the second-best time on the team in the 100 breast (53.53) and ranked third overall in the ACC in the 200 breast (1:53.45) and 10th in the 200 free (1:34.90).
This is the first all-ACC academic team honor for the business administration major with a 3.40 cumulative grade point average.
Minimum academic requirements for selection to the all-ACC academic team are a 3.0 grade point average for the previous semester and a 3.0 cumulative average during one’s academic career for undergraduate students. Athletic achievements during the most recent season are also considered in selecting the all-ACC academic team.
The ACC honor roll, which recognizes all conference student-athletes with a grade point average of 3.0 for the current academic year, will be released in July.
