Georgia Tech S&D Travels to West Virginia, Pitt
Tech will face Mountaineers for first time
THE FLATS – The nationally-ranked Georgia Tech Swimming & Diving team will travel northeast for a pair of dual meets against West Virginia and Pittsburgh. The men’s team is ranked 16th nationally by CollegeSwimming.com and the women are ranked 31st.
Friday’s dual meet at West Virginia will begin at 5 p.m. ET, while Saturday’s meet at Pitt is set for 11 a.m. ET.
“We’re very excited about competing again,” said head coach Courtney Shealy Hart. “West Virginia’s a new team for us; we haven’t competed against them before. Pittsburgh will be a conference meet, so we’re excited to get into some conference swimming.”
The men’s and women’s squads are coming off strong performances in their opening meet against Penn State and Liberty. The double-dual meet was highlighted by Shannon Lumbra’s victories in the 1-meter and 3-meter dives, which earned her ACC Female Diver of the Week honors. Swimmers Moises Loschi, Yuval Safra, Brian Woodbury and Efrat Rotsztejn as well as diver Omar Eteiba also earned victories at the meet.
“We just returned from our fall break retreat, which included some team bonding,” said Hart. “We’re looking to see how that translates to the pool.”
