Coach Hall on Josh Heddinger
"Josh had his coming out party at Vanderbilt last year as he shut them out in their stadium in the regional semifinals. He had a tremendous summer. Josh has pitched in some big games for us and we expect him to start out this season in our rotation."

Named to the Nashville Regional All-Tournament... Made 16 appearances and earned six spot start for the Yellow Jackets... Finished the year with a 3-0 record and a 4.60 ERA in 45.0 innings... Dropped his ERA nearly two points over his final four appearances, which included one of the most-impressive postseason pitching performances in the Yellow Jackets' history... With Tech in an elimination game versus top-seeded Vanderbilt at the Nashville Regional, the sophomore went the distance in a two-hit shutout to force a winner-take-all game... It was the seventh complete-game shutout in Tech's NCAA history and he became just the third Jacket to throw a one- or two-hitter in the NCAA Tournament... His other impressive late-season outing was a six-inning gem at Ohio State where he allowed one runs and two hits in the no-decision... Recorded victories over Georgia State (Feb. 19), in relief at Georgia (April 9) and Vandy (June 2)... Made his 10th career start versus Mercer on March 5, working 2.1 innings with four strikeouts and two runs (one earned) but did not factor in the decision in the 16-9 win... Pitched 2.0 innings, allowing just one hit with two strikeouts to slam the door on No. 5 Florida State and secure the shutout victory for Buck Farmer in the 10-0 win... Carried his late-season success on the mound into an impressive summer with the Peninsula Pilots in the Coastal Plain League as he helped guide them to the CPL championship title... He allowed just three runs (two earned) over 12.0 innings in two postseason starts for the Pilots.

Finished his rookie season with 23 appearances, the second-most on the team, and made seven starts... Posted a 3-4 record and a 6.39 ERA in 50.2 innings... Improved as the season went on... Pitched a six-inning gem versus Georgia (5/9) as the Yellow Jackets won the season series from the Bulldogs... Did not allow an earned run over his first six career appearances (7.0 innings)... Fired a 1-2-3 seventh inning at No. 30 Georgia Southern (2/22) in his collegiate debut and preserved an 8-8 tie - Tech took the lead for good in the top of the eighth and earned his first career win... Made an emergency start for Matthew Grimes on 3/10 at NC State -- the first start of his career -- and took the loss... Made his second career start on 3/27 versus Georgia Southern and logged a career-long 6.2 innings, allowing just six hits with a career-high seven strikeouts -- but was on the wrong end of the 5-3 loss to the Eagles... Pitched 5.1 innings of relief vs. Georgia State (4/17) with six strikeouts and one walk... Got the start vs. Georgia at Turner Field (4/24) and allowed two hits and one run in 3.2 innings and received the no decision in Tech's 4-3 win... Recorded his second win after an inning of scoreless relief versus Charlotte (5/6) -- pitched the top of the 11th and Tech won in the bottom half on a walk-off single from Daniel Palka... Got the win after a strong six-inning start vs. Georgia (5/9), allowing four hits and no earned runs, turning a 6-1 lead over to the bullpen... Was Tech's starting pitcher in the ACC Championship game, an 8-5 win over Miami... Gave Tech two innings and allowed three hits and three runs in the no decision... His start in the ACC title game came nearly one year to the day (May 30, 2011), that he was the starting pitcher in his high school's state championship game, where he threw a complete-game two-hitter with 10 strikeouts to lead Buford (Ga.) to its first baseball championship in 34 years.
