Elected a team captain, along with A.J. Murray

Selected as one of three captains... Academic All-ACC selection... Enjoyed a breakout season for the Yellow Jackets, bouncing back from an arm injury that limited his action over 2012 and 2013... He underwent Tommy John surgery in 2012 after appearing just once (opening day) and pitching in six games in 2013... Finished the year with the sixth-best ERA among qualifying pitchers in the ACC with a 2.24 in 76.1 innings... Appeared in 18 games and made 12 starts and posted a 5-3 record... Was 3-3 versus the ACC with a 2.30 ERA in conference games... Retired two batters with a strikeout in his debut versus UNCG on 2/23... Was lights out during a career-long relief appearance of 4.1 scoreless, one-hit innings versus Western Carolina on 3/11, setting a career-high of five strikeouts and earning his second career win as Tech... Stepped into the weekend rotation for the first time in his career on 3/15 versus No. 22 Miami and pitched a gem over a career-long 6.0 innings with a career-best six strikeouts... Tech went on to win game 3-2 in extra innings to sweep the doubleheader and win the series... Made his second straight ACC start at No. 13 North Carolina on 3/22, pitching five innings but did not factor in the decision in Tech's 6-5 win in 13 innings... Pitched 4.1 innings at Pitt on 3/29, received no support from his offense and absorbed the loss in Tech's 5-0 setback... Matched his career long of six innings and tossed a shutout, allowing just three hits with four strikeouts versus Duke on 4/5 as the Jackets won 5-1... He retired the last nine Duke hitters he faced in order... Registered his most impressive career start versus No. 1 Florida State on 4/12, pitching six shutout innings with one walk and five strikeouts as he won his second straight ACC start as Tech took the series with a 12-4 rout... After dodging trouble in the first two innings versus FSU, he faced just three batters over the minimum over his final four innings on the mound... Deserved a better fate at Maryland on 4/19, allowing just two runs in 5.1 innings but getting just a run of support from the offense in Tech's 4-1 loss... Once again deserved a better result at NC State, limiting the Wolfpack to five hits and one run with no walks and four strikeouts but falling 1-0... Pitched a career-long seven innings, allowing six hits and one run with two walks and five strikeouts, in leading Tech to a series-clinching win over Virginia Tech, 3-1, on 5/3... Registered his fifth quality start of the season at No. 1 Virginia on 5/10, allowing one run on five hits in six innings but did not factor in the decision in Tech's 4-3 loss... Tossed five shutout innings with four hits, one walk and five strikeouts in Tech's 3-0 win over USF on 5/16... Sam Clay pitched the final four innings to close out the Jackets' fifth shutout win of the year... After not pitching during pool play of the ACC Tournament due to a sore shoulder, he earned the start versus Maryland in the ACC title game and allowed two runs over 3.2 innings of a limited start -- the Jackets went on to a 9-4 victory... Made the start versus Jacksonville State in the NCAA Oxford Regional and pitched five innings, allowing six hits and one run but did not factor in the decision in Tech's victory.

The lefty made six appearances in relief for the Yellow Jackets... Totaled just 1.2 innings for the season... Made his season debut versus The Citadel on March 26, logging two-thirds of an inning with one hit allowed -- it was first appearance for Tech since 2012 Opening Day after having arm surgery... Retired both batters he faced with a strikeout in the 9-1 win over Kennesaw State on April 3.

An arm injury limited him to one appearance for the season, that coming on opening day versus Kent State... Earned a medical redshirt.

Saw action as Tech's lefty-relief specialist during his rookie season... Appeared in 18 games, but totaled eight innings of work... Recorded a strikeout against his only batter faced at Miami and was the pitcher of record in the Yellow Jackets' 12-3 victory over the Hurricanes in extra innings for his first career win... Struck out the side versus Savannah State on May 10.
