One of the nation's top-rated prep big men out of high school who earned a spot in Tech's starting lineup from the beginning of his freshman season ... Invited to participate in training camp for USA Basketball's Under-19 team to prepare for the FIBA Americas U19 Championships in the summer of 2013 ... Participated in the USA U18 trials in the summer of 2012, but did not make the team.

Tech coaches like his versatility and complete skill set, good shooting touch from the perimeter and the skill to be able to stretch defenses ... Difficult to guard in the post and keep off of the backboards ... Plays unselfishly and passes the ball well.

Earned a spot in Tech's starting lineup for the season-opener and held on to it ... Made the Coaches ACC All-Freshman team ... Tech's second-leading scorer at 9.9 ppg (14 double-digit scoring games, seven in ACC games) and led the team in rebounds (6.7 per game, 12th in the ACC), two ahead of Daniel Miller... In ACC games: 9.9 ppg (team-high) and 6.5 rpg (2nd on the team), 44.6 pct. FG, 34.1 pct. on 3s... Ranked fifth among ACC freshmen in scoring and double-digit scoring games, second in rebounding and double-digit rebound games... Posted his fifth double-double and second in five games with 19 points and 10 boards in Feb. 27 win over Maryland (7-11 FG, 4-4 FT, two assists, two blocks) ... Named ACC Rookie of the Week Monday largely for that effort... Knocked down game-winning free throws with 8.7 seconds left in Feb. 16 win at Wake Forest, 4-for-4 in the game, in which he scored 10 points... Scored a career-best 20 in the first meeting against Wake Forest, hitting 9-of-10 FG and 2-of-3 threes ... Came up big in the first meeting against Virginia with 14 points (6-8 FG), eight rebounds, three assists and two big blocks... Also scored double-doubles Feb. 14 against Clemson (10 pts/11 reb), Chattanooga (13 pts/12 reb) and Alabama State (13 pts/11 reb) ... Within a point or a rebound of getting three others... Had six double-digit rebound games, hitting his season high of 12 vs. North Carolina (Jan. 23) and Chattanooga... Scored 19 points against UNC Wilmington (8-for-12) and grabbed nine rebounds ... Five of those points came in succession that lifted Tech from a 62-61 deficit to a 66-62 lead, which it did not relinquish late in the game... Tried at least one three in 27 of Tech's 31 games (28.1 pct.) ... Hit a big one off a designed play out of a timeout to help Tech hold off Virginia Tech in Blacksburg ... Made 2-of-4 in Tech's win at Miami... Received an invitation to compete in the trials for the USA Basketball Under-19 team during the summer of 2013.

High School

Played his senior season at Shiloh High School in Snellville, Ga., for coach Kim Rivers, and earned first-team all-state honors in class AAAAA by the Atlanta Journal-Constitution ... Averaged 19 points and 12 rebounds as the Generals went 19-3, made it out of the region 8AAAAA playoffs but lost in the second round of the state tournament to eventual champion Milton ... Earned second-team all-state honors as a junior at class AA Thomasville High School, where he averaged 20.3 points, 14 rebounds and 2.5 blocks per game for coach Ben Tillman ... Helped the Bulldogs to three straight region 1-AA titles ... Ranked No. 33 nationally (6th among power forwards) in the Rivals150 prep player rankings in the class of 2012 ... Rated 21st among the nation's seniors according to ESPN, also ranked 7th among the nation's power forwards by ESPN.
