Georgia Tech vs. Boston College
A hard-working, relentless young defender who made an immediate impact in 2012 as a true freshman... played tackle and end last season... developed into one of Tech's top pass-rushers... came to Atlanta from Australia, where he played very little American football... was working as a lifeguard when he got the scholarship offer from Tech... a little older than most second-year players (he turns 21 in September).
2012 (true freshman): Played in 12 games and made one start... his statistics -- five total tackles with three solo tackles -- don't reflect his impact as a rookie... had 1.5 tackles for loss, including one sack... also had one pass break-up... recorded a solo tackle at Maryland (Nov. 3)... started against Duke (Nov. 17) and responded with three tackles and his first career sack... had a tackle and a half-tackle for loss at Georgia (Nov. 24).
High School: Kew HS... selected to the IFAF World Team roster that played Team USA in USA Football's International Bowl on Feb. 1, 2012 in Austin, Texas... played Australian Rules Football for eight years... played American Rules Football for the premier team in Gridiron Victoria, the Monash Warriors... that team has won seven of the 10 Vicbowls that have been contested since 2000... recorded a team-high 12.5 sacks and earned MVP honors in 2010
Personal: Full name is Adam Gotsis... son of Louis and Daxy Gotsis... born Sept. 23, 1992 in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia... his family watched most of Tech's games between 2 and 5 a.m. on their laptop computers... has four siblings - Peter, Steph, Kristina and Eleni... intends to major in business management... said a flyer advertising Georgia Tech gained his interest in the school at age 13... wore No. 92 in high school to signify his birth year... made the Dean's List in the fall of 2012.
