Yellow Jackets, Hokies set for crucial Coastal Division battle next Thursday
A third-year linebacker who played as a true freshman in 2011 and has steadily seen his role grow... should be a part of the linebacker rotation... could see action on special teams... has good closing speed and a nose for the football.
2012 (sophomore): Played in nine games, including each of the last six games of the season... recorded four tackles, including three solo tackles... registered two tackles -- both solo tackles -- in the win over Virginia (Sept. 15)... had a tackle against Florida State in the ACC Championship Game (Dec. 1).
2011 (true freshman): Played in 11 games as a true freshman... the majority of his action came on special teams... recorded two tackles on the season... had a tackle in his first collegiate game, vs. Western Carolina (Sept. 1)... also credited with a tackle in a win over Kansas (Sept. 17).
High School: South Forsyth HS... earned three varsity letters and served one year as team captain for coach Jeff Arnette... played fullback, offensive line and defensive end at SFHS... earned all-county honors in 2009 and 2010... selected all-region in 2010... holds the school power clean record (325 pounds)... also played three seasons on the lacrosse team.
Personal: Full name is Kyle William Travis... parents are Todd and Ann... has a younger sister and brother -- Kelli and Conner... born June 26, 1993 in Atlanta... cousin, Sam Dawes, played baseball at Miami (Ohio)... began playing football in fifth grade... a management major.
