Former Yellow Jacket quarterback and radio broadcaster will watch his kids participate in sports this fall
Rick Strom joined the Georgia Tech football radio broadcast team in 2005. He serves as the sideline reporter on the Tech broadcast crew, which also includes play-by-play announcer Wes Durham and color analyst Jeff Van Note.
Strom currently works for Manulife Financial in Atlanta.
An undrafted free agent, Strom enjoyed a seven-year career as a backup quarterback in the NFL, playing for his hometown Pittsburgh Steelers as well as the Buffalo Bills and Detroit Lions. In 1990, he appeared in six games for the Steelers, completing 14 of 21 passes for 162 yards.
* Strom played quarterback for the Jackets from 1983-87, lettering in 1983, '84, '86 and '87.
* Started 16 games at quarterback over the 1986-87 seasons.
* Started 10 games in 1986, passing for 1,011 yards and five touchdowns
* Started the first six games of 1987 and completed 83 of 163 passes for 1,066 yards and six touchdowns before a season-ending thumb injury
