Dec. 20, 2016

THE FLATS – Thanks to generous support of fans, Georgia Tech athletics has donated 700 TaxSlayer Bowl tickets to VetTix, an organization that provides tickets for a wide range of events to U.S. military members and veterans.

Georgia Tech fans contributed the funds needed to purchase the 700 tickets that will be distributed to the servicemen and servicewomen and their families. Fans wishing to still contribute to the cause can do so by clicking HERE.

Georgia Tech (8-4) faces Kentucky (7-5) in the 72nd TaxSlayer Bowl (formerly known as the Gator Bowl), which will be played on Saturday, Dec. 31 at EverBank Field in Jacksonville, Fla. The game will be televised nationally on ESPN.

Georgia Tech tickets and travel packages for the TaxSlayer Bowl remain on sale, although Tech’s allotment of club seats are sold out. Yellow Jackets faithful planning to attend the game are urged to support Georgia Tech and ensure the opportunity to sit and travel with other Tech fans by purchasing tickets and travel packages at togetherweswarm.com/bowl.

LAST PRACTICE BEFORE HOLIDAY BREAK SET FOR WEDNESDAY: Georgia Tech will hold its final practice before a five-day holiday break on Wednesday morning.

Wednesday’s practice will be the Yellow Jackets’ 10th in preparation for its TaxSlayer Bowl matchup versus Kentucky. Immediately following Wednesday morning’s workout, Georgia Tech’s student-athletes will disperse for the five-day holiday break. The Jackets return to campus on Monday evening and will hold practice on Tuesday morning before traveling to Jacksonville later in the day.

The TaxSlayer Bowl features two of the nation’s hottest teams, as Georgia Tech has won five of its last six games and Kentucky has won seven of its last 10 contests. With three-straight wins to close out the regular season, Tech enters the bowl season as one of only 13 Power Five conference teams riding a winning streak of at least three games.
