First-Round Pairings Set for Palmer Cup

Newcastle, Northern Ireland – First round four-ball pairings for the 2012 Palmer Cup at The Royal County Down Golf Club were announced at today’s opening ceremony, and Georgia Tech’s James White and Auburn’s Blayne Barber will take on David Booth and Graeme Robertson of Europe Thursday morning. The first match of the Ryder Cup-style competition between collegiate golfers will tee off at 7:30 a.m. local time.

The opening match will feature Daan Huizing and Thomas Pieters from the Europe against the United States’ Chris Williams and Andrew Yun. Game two will pit Europe’s Julien Brun and Sebastian Cappelen versus Derek Ernst and Corbin Mills. Booth and Robertson will battle Barber and White of the United States in match three. The final match will be contested between Team Europe’s Robert Karlsson and Pontus Widegren and USA’s Patrick Rodgers and Justin Thomas.

Afternoon foursomes matches will begin at 2 p.m. local time with pairings to be determined.

The United States leads the Palmer Cup series 8-6-1.
