BLACKSBURG, Va. – The Georgia Tech track & field team finished its weekend of competition at Virginia Tech, while senior distance runner Jeremy Greenwald competed in the mile race at the Meyo Invitational hosted by Notre Dame.
Greenwald had a great performance in South Bend, Ind., running the mile in a personal-best time of 4:01.85 and finishing fifth in the process. Earlier this season, Greenwald set the school record in the 3000m with a time of 8:03.13.
In Blacksburg, the Jackets were able to get a solid performance from the men’s 4x800 relay team of Andres Littig, Chris Burnett, Nico Metzler and Gabriel Darosa, who finished second with a time of 7:36.31.
“We were a little bit sluggish and out of sync this weekend,” head men’s coach Grover Hinsdale said. “As I said yesterday, it is important that we work through these times as we head into the home stretch before the ACC Championships. We will regroup this week and get ready to put up some better performances at Vanderbilt next weekend.”
“The women looked better today after seeming a little flat yesterday,” said head women’s coach Alan Drosky. “It was great to see Bailey (Weiland) jump well today – we needed that. The women in the 200m recorded their best times of the season.”
The Yellow Jackets will next compete in the Music City Invite Feb. 12-13, their third meet in Nashville this season.
