EUGENE, Ore. – Georgia Tech senior Jonathan Gardner placed 15th in the triple jump on the final day Saturday of the 2014 NCAA Outdoor Championships at Hayward Field hosted by the University of Oregon.
Gardner leaped to a distance of 15.83m (51-11.25) for 15th place and second team All-America honors. It marks the second-career All-America recognition for Gardner after he earned first team honors in the triple jump in 2013.
The Chicago, Ill., native placed seventh in the triple jump with a distance of 15.86m (52-0.50) to earn a trip to his second career NCAA Outdoor Championships.
In earlier action this week, junior Nikita Kirillov tied for 13th in the pole vault with a mark of 5.40m (17-8.50) and senior Julienne McKee placed 20th in the long jump with a distance of 6.09m (19-11.75) on Wednesday. On Thursday, junior Jeremy Greenwald took 17th in the 1500-meter semifinals with a time of 3:47.36 and on Friday, McKee took 23rd in the triple jump (12.42m; 40-09.00).
