McKee Long Jump Highlights Penn Relays

PHILADELPHIA - Highlighted by a first place finish in the long jump by Julienne McKee, the Georgia Tech men's and women's track and field teams wrapped up their time at the Penn Relays at Franklin Field this weekend.

McKee, who finished in first place in the women's long jump college field with a jump of 6.24m (20-5.75) smashed her previous personal best in the event 6.05m (19-10.25), while recording the third best jump in school history, just two inches off the school record mark.

Also seeing success in the event were Jhanelle McLeod who tied her season best mark with a ninth place, 5.97m (19-7) mark as well as Jasmine Kent who finished 13th with a distance of 5.87m (19-3.25).

On the men's side, Mykhail Chambers finished third in the high jump with a height of 2.04m (6-8.25) while Jonathan Gardner took 12th in the triple jump with a distance of 14.25m (46-9) while Omar Morrison finished 17th in 13.70m (44-11.5).

On the field, Katie Townsend took home ninth place in her first try at the 10,000m championship with a time of 36:00.39. Betsy Kim took home 16th in the 5,000m run with a time of 16:58.36. Doug Black took home 17th on the men's side in the 10k with a time of 30:36.27.

Rounding out the competitors were Jasmine Isley and Ama Larbi in the women's 400m hurdles. Isley finished in ninth place with a time of 1:00.42 while Larbi took 16th place in 1:01.34.

The Yellow Jackets return to action at the Bob Pollock Spring Invitational in Clemson, S.C. on May 4 and 5.
