CONWAY, S.C. – The Georgia Tech volleyball team (8-3) fell at Coastal Carolina (8-2), 3-1, Friday night at the Coastal Carolina tournament. The Jackets and Chanticleers re-match Saturday at 5 p.m.

How It Happened
In set one, the teams were tied 11-11, but the Chanticleers went on a 6-1 run to open the lead to 17-12 and eventually won 25-19. Coastal Carolina turned a 5-5 tie in set two into a 13-9 lead and kept that momentum to win the game 25-19.

The momentum swung in Georgia Tech’s favor in set three as the Jackets jumped out to an 8-4 lead. Tech never lost the lead and never looked back winning, 25-18.

The fourth set was a back and forth game with nine tied scores and six lead changes. It was knotted late in the game 22-22, but it was the Chanticleers who scored the last three points to win 25-22.

Quote
“We started the match very flat, not passing well, so our offense became very predictable,” head coach Michelle Collier said. “As the match went on we played better and got our middles more involved, but with a team as good and as experienced as Coastal we have to perform better from the beginning.

“The positives were that we held them to a low hitting percentage and we finished the match playing better than when we started. We will have to carry that over to tomorrow night and execute better offensively in order to put ourselves in a position to beat this good team.”
