The Scene: Friday’s match is a tough early test for the Jackets. The Bulldogs enter the season ranked sixth in the latest rankings by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association. The two teams met four times in the fall season however this is the first dual match for both teams.

Tennessee comes into Sunday’s match boasting a 4-0 record. The Volunteers bring to the table two ranked doubles pairing with No. 26 Luis Valero and Jack Schipanski and No. 47 Scott Jones and Timo Stodder.

Singles Update: Junior Christopher Eubanks is coming off three quality wins at the MLK Invitational, including one over Georgia’s No. 22 Wayne Montgomery. Eubanks anchored the No. 1 spot in the Tech lineup last season. Sophomore Andrew Li reached a career-high ranking of No. 61 following the fall season. He posted two wins over ranked opponents at the MLK Invitational.

Head coach Kenny Thorne says: “We aren’t easing into the season. We are starting with two great matchups. We are coming off three days of great competition so our guys know what to expect. We have gotten better the last two years and this weekend is a good opportunity for us to keep moving forward. I’m very confident in our team so it should be exciting tennis. I know we will have a large crowd and the atmosphere will be great. We are looking forward to having as many Tech fans here as possible.”
